Project Overview
Hurleyβs Earthworx was contracted to complete the full sitework package for Parachute Plasma, a new development in North Carolina. This project required land clearing, erosion control, rock excavation, fine grading, and utility installations to establish a solid foundation for construction.
With challenging terrain that included significant rock excavation, our team leveraged precision equipment and expert site preparation techniques to ensure a seamless, high-quality result.
Scope of Work
β Erosion Control & Tree Protection β Installed 600 feet of erosion control measures to prevent sediment runoff and protect preserved vegetation.
β Land Clearing & Grubbing β Cleared and grubbed 1.3 acres of land to prepare the site for development.
β Rock Excavation & Export β Removed 1,500 cubic yards of rock using specialized hammering and export techniques, ensuring proper site grading and leveling.
β Fine Grading β Precisely graded the building pad, curb, and gutter to meet elevation and drainage requirements.
β Stormwater Management β Installed 300 linear feet of 15-inch HDPE storm drain to facilitate proper water runoff and prevent flooding.
β Water Utility Installation β Tapped into an 8-inch main and installed 250 linear feet of new water line to provide reliable service to the site.
β Sewer System Installation β Installed 50 feet of 4-inch gravity sewer to ensure efficient wastewater management.
Challenges & Solutions
π§ Challenge: Rock Excavation & Site Leveling
π‘ Solution: Encountering significant rock formations required advanced hammering techniques and efficient material export to achieve the required site grading. Our team executed precise rock removal without disrupting the project timeline.
π§ Challenge: Managing Erosion in a Sensitive Area
π‘ Solution: Implemented 600 feet of erosion control measures, including silt fencing and tree protection, to prevent environmental impact and maintain compliance with regulations.
π§ Challenge: Coordinating Utility Installations Without Delays
π‘ Solution: Worked closely with contractors and utility providers to efficiently install water, sewer, and stormwater infrastructure, ensuring a smooth transition from sitework to vertical construction.
Results & Impact
β
Efficient Rock Removal β Completed excavation and site grading without project delays.
β
Optimized Drainage & Utility Integration β Installed stormwater, water, and sewer systems to meet strict engineering specifications.
β
On-Time, High-Quality Sitework β Delivered a stable, well-prepared site ready for the next phase of development.
