Parachute Plasma

πŸ“ North Carolina

Project Overview

Hurley’s Earthworx was contracted to complete the full sitework package for Parachute Plasma, a new development in North Carolina. This project required land clearing, erosion control, rock excavation, fine grading, and utility installations to establish a solid foundation for construction.

With challenging terrain that included significant rock excavation, our team leveraged precision equipment and expert site preparation techniques to ensure a seamless, high-quality result.

Scope of Work

βœ… Erosion Control & Tree Protection – Installed 600 feet of erosion control measures to prevent sediment runoff and protect preserved vegetation.

βœ… Land Clearing & Grubbing – Cleared and grubbed 1.3 acres of land to prepare the site for development.

βœ… Rock Excavation & Export – Removed 1,500 cubic yards of rock using specialized hammering and export techniques, ensuring proper site grading and leveling.

βœ… Fine Grading – Precisely graded the building pad, curb, and gutter to meet elevation and drainage requirements.

βœ… Stormwater Management – Installed 300 linear feet of 15-inch HDPE storm drain to facilitate proper water runoff and prevent flooding.

βœ… Water Utility Installation – Tapped into an 8-inch main and installed 250 linear feet of new water line to provide reliable service to the site.

βœ… Sewer System Installation – Installed 50 feet of 4-inch gravity sewer to ensure efficient wastewater management.

Challenges & Solutions

🚧 Challenge: Rock Excavation & Site Leveling
πŸ’‘ Solution: Encountering significant rock formations required advanced hammering techniques and efficient material export to achieve the required site grading. Our team executed precise rock removal without disrupting the project timeline.

🚧 Challenge: Managing Erosion in a Sensitive Area
πŸ’‘ Solution: Implemented 600 feet of erosion control measures, including silt fencing and tree protection, to prevent environmental impact and maintain compliance with regulations.

🚧 Challenge: Coordinating Utility Installations Without Delays
πŸ’‘ Solution: Worked closely with contractors and utility providers to efficiently install water, sewer, and stormwater infrastructure, ensuring a smooth transition from sitework to vertical construction.

Results & Impact

βœ… Efficient Rock Removal – Completed excavation and site grading without project delays.
βœ… Optimized Drainage & Utility Integration – Installed stormwater, water, and sewer systems to meet strict engineering specifications.
βœ… On-Time, High-Quality Sitework – Delivered a stable, well-prepared site ready for the next phase of development.

The Join Parachute/Parachute Plasma project showcased Hurley’s Earthworx’s ability to overcome challenging excavation conditions while maintaining precision and efficiency. By leveraging advanced site preparation techniques and GPS-guided grading, we provided a foundation that ensures long-term stability and success for this development.
